Cathay Fulton Ericksen has practiced law for more than twenty years in Wisconsin and, since 1992, San Jose, California. She works in two main areas -family law and bankruptcy – and also accepts probate and small business cases. Ms. Ericksen believes that attorneys should give clients immediate, personal attention and tailor legal services to the clients' individual needs. She is available after normal working hours and on weekends to accommodate the often hectic schedules of clients.

Family Law: Ms. Ericksen handles family law matters including divorce, custody, support, property division, and guardianships. She works in Santa Clara, Alameda and San Mateo Counties, knows the judges and family court services staff in each county and serves as a Judge Pro Tern on a monthly basis. Ms. Ericksen recognizes that clients going through family law disputes are involved in a difficult process which often includes significant financial and/or emotional stress. She strives to provide the legal services needed by clients without forcing then to incur unnecessary fees and costs.

Bankruptcy: Ms. Ericksen has years of experience in representing individuals who need to obtain a financial fresh start by filing for relief in bankruptcy. Her office is currently helping many clients save their homes and, in some cases, "stripping" a second mortgage or home equity line off the property and turning it into an unsecured debt, which can then be discharged. Ms. Ericksen will meet with clients on a rush basis if emergency filings are needed to save homes scheduled to be sold at a trustee's auction.

Business Law: Ms. Ericksen provides legal services to small business in a wide range of areas, including employment matters, insurance coverage and claim management, contract negotiations and disputes, incorporations and partnership agreements, and collections and mechanic's lien enforcement. Her extensive experience in these areas enables her to both handle immediate and recognize future needs and problems of clients.
